Hi, I’m Mike, the founder and chief editor of BigBoxBlog.com. I’ve spent over 25 years immersed in the retail industry, building expertise in everything from store operations to product merchandising. My career began right on the sales floor, where I worked as a part-time stock clerk during my college years. Over time, I moved through the ranks, managing departments, overseeing supply chain logistics, and eventually working in corporate retail strategy. This journey has given me firsthand insight into how major retailers like Walmart, Target, and others operate—and what makes them tick.
My passion for retail goes beyond just understanding the business. I’ve always been fascinated by the way retailers shape consumer habits, how they innovate to stay ahead, and, of course, how they price their products. A Little About Me Personally
Outside of my professional background, I’m a proud father of two incredible boys who keep me on my toes. My family and I live in beautiful Santa Maria, California, a city that offers the perfect mix of stunning landscapes and a laid-back lifestyle. When I’m not blogging or tracking the latest deals, I’m usually spending quality time with my kids. Whether we’re hiking the nearby trails, having family movie nights, or cheering at their soccer games, being a dad is my greatest joy.
I also have a few hobbies that keep me grounded and inspired. I’m an avid reader, particularly of business and marketing books (I can’t resist a good Seth Godin read). I also love to cook, experimenting with new recipes on weekends—Santa Maria’s famous barbecue-style tri-tip is my specialty! And when I need to unwind, you’ll often find me in my garage tinkering with DIY woodworking projects or heading to the coast for some fishing.
